UAE ND 50

UAE National Day 50th Anniversary Celebration

Hatta, Oman/Dubai Border, 2021

We provided Production Management, props master and assistant services for this spectacular celebration. Over a period of 3 months, our crew liaised with designer Es Devlin, and worked under Larmac Live to manage the delivery of all the prop items, including a giant carbon fibre flown falcon.

HRH 90: The Patron’s Lunch

HRH 90: The Patron’s Lunch

London, UK 2016

Ala was appointed as Creative Director for the Patron’s Lunch by SEL Events, Peter Phillips and Grace Noest. From more than 1000 volunteer performers, costume, props, set and dressing, as well as the design for the royal box, the celebration emerged on the Mall. This was televised on BBC2 and attended by 10,000 picnicking people working for the 612 charities of which Her Majesty is the Patron. Our favourite moment was her smile and delight at the arrival of our Royal Yacht Britannia puppet, created by MDM Props.

BIRMINGHAM COMMONWEALTH GAMES HANDOVER

BIRMINGHAM COMMONWEALTH GAMES HANDOVER CEREMONY

UK 2018

Our designs for set, props costumes and décor dressed this single shot spectacular musical number, by Progress Productions. ELO’s ‘Mr Blue Sky’ lip synch dance performance appeared live, by satellite link to Australia, to an audience of millions. With only 8 weeks preparation for us, we costumed and made up 1400 volunteer and professional dancers, also from Brimingham Royal ballet, and designed the garden and stage for them to dance in, in the centre of Birmingham’s Victoria Square, as well as numerous items such as a knobbly cloud, giant moon, banner reveals, signs rock guitars and mirror books to name but a few. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

BRUM22

BIRMINGHAM COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2022

UK 2022

We designed the victory podia, medal presentation trays and athlete entrances and sculptures for this global event for Progress Productions. Mindful of budget and the complex setting and resetting of these items, amongst the tight timings and tough budgets of the games, we arrived at these fun solutions across 22 venues.

HULL

Hull City of Culture

UK, 2017

We provided production design and creative direction to this multi site art installation and public show for the opening week of the UK City of Culture year.

Working with International and local artists, we created naked blue people, giant projection, underpass disco art, lamp post décor and a whole street of shop window art installations.

We also held student workshops and drawing sessions, with artists and curators from all over the country.

The main square in Hull was lit with projection on all sides from our base at the centre, and the lake alongside swam with hundreds of paper boats from Hull school children from all around the city.
