BBC Worldwide engaged us to create staging, set, props and costume designs for this established show format. Starring Justin Fletcher MBE, Mr Tumble, Mr Maker, Mr Bloom, Andy Day, Katie Ashworth and Katrina Bryan, this opened at Wembley Arena to an adoring and wonderful audience of young people. Written by Will Brenton of Wish Films, we loved every second of this new crazy caper!
We provided graphics, staging, set, props, costumes and workshop designs for this youth film festival. We then travelled on site and ran and managed the props and costumes into rehearsal and for the shows. Lasting a week in Doha, and run by the Doha Film Institute, this was a magical time, creating a show and festival content for Unspun Producers from the UK. New Substance delivered the vision of flying performers from a crane above the stage, and dropping LED sycamore style printed leaves on the royal audience.
We created the set, staging, party and press photo op. areas, VIP and lounge area designs for this sparkling tribute to the sports of that weekend. Hosted by BVB Borussia Dortmund, this featured extravagant food, entertainment and characters, including the likes of European pop icon Helena Fisher.
We provided Art Direction services to Sister Pictures for a short contract on one of their larger central London locations during summer of 2021. Post Covid, this presented many challenges to work as a normal production. 2 years later, this is due to be released.
Our design for water theatre, permanent show, audience area, permanent canopy, staging, set and scenic is still running with fresh cast and effects, relaunching this year. It includes the first use of our ‘hydronaut’ style characters in a permanent show, hydro-jet technology passing into a hoverboard style pack – allowing performers to levitate as part of the show. Our friends at 563 Productions invited us to create a concept and full designs for a World War One exhibition, for 10,000 visiting Canadian Students, 1 French President, 1 Canadian President, and some English Royals…so we filled a huge hall with a full immersive 3d trench, contemplation room, art wall, Lego installation and WW1 reproduction plane. Props, large scale print, textural finishes, costumes, props and artefacts were all interspersed with learning sessions provided by EF. Students learned to make a Morse Code machine, play in a VR Vimy, and problem solve alongside veterans promoting the Invictus Games. We designed a 3d puzzle for the ‘I AM’ Invictus Logo and designed their content for the 5 day event.
