RUN DMC: Raleigh Ritchie

RUN DMC & Raleigh Ritchie

La Scala London, UK, 2015

We provided full set design for this one-off reunion of RUN DMC, part nostalgic party, part tribute to their lost band mate JMJ. The intimate venue, and small stage, held our LED backdrop and floor, suspended LED posts, to create video content running out into the audience. Hosted by Vodafone, also celebrating 30 years, with intro tunes by fantastic female VJ. Thanks to Producer, Barbara Walker, at Wasserman Group for asking us to be involved!

Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies UK 2012

Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies

London, UK, 2012

Our Principal, Ala, was Design Studio Manager, and later Head of Design for the Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies in London, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Paralympics. This involved running a studio to develop and deliver designs with the Technical Department for tender and delivery with a whole host of industry suppliers around the UK and Europe. From 2011-2012, working directly with Directors Danny Boyle, Kim Gavin, Jenny Sealey and Bradley Hemmings. An experience which broadened knowledge and experience for all involved, as if 100 stage shows had been delivered at once, never to be forgotten.

AZURA, VENTURA & ADONIA

Azura, Ventura & Adonia

Launch and First Voyage Celebrations

Southampton, UK 2009/2010/2011

Featuring Darcy Bussell and Trevor McDonald, with choreography by Kim Gavin, this launch party, bottle smash and inaugural celebration took place on the top deck of the new ship for P&O. Stages were built over swimming pools, to create raised platforms with audience in amongst the shows. Followed next season by a launch of Ventura, with Helen Mirren, then Adonia next year with Hugh Bonneville and Shirley Bassey. These three events, again for Mark Fisher OBE MVO RDI, were a new step in presenting creative shows with a storyline at this type of event.

FAST & FURIOUS LIVE

FAST & FURIOUS LIVE

UK & EUROPE, 2017

We enjoyed providing the full production design for this first time out touring arena show. Based on the multi million selling Fast and Furious, it features all of the big fan favourite moments from the whole film series. Working alongside Stage One Creative Services and Brilliant Stages, we designed the rolling, bouncing and burning fuel tanker, tank, racing buggies, falling water tower, power tower, Vegas style neon signs, amongst many other giant and crazy objects. There was a train that elongated, flew out and allowed a car to be slid sideways onto a trailer alongside, and the giant projection screen had various openings to allow the vehicle movements to flow with the tracking projection and story.

The crescendo of the show was a giant Antonov nose, breaking through the screen, firing a super car onto the stage…..all in a days work, of course. On site, we supported the set suppliers in providing scenic painting, scenic and prop amends and additions. We continued adapting and problem solving with the video and creative team, through the whole development of the show, to see it through to delivery.

EDINBURGH HOGMANAY

EDINBURGH’S HOGMANAY

UK, 2017/18/19

Over 3 years we supported Underbelly in their delivery of the New Years Eve Hogmanay Street Party Celebrations in Scotland. Designs of street stages, costume, props, scenic dressing, entrance walls, archways and aerial sculptures were designed to create an immersive experience for the huge number of national and international visitors. 3 giant ladies, aerial wall walking and fire performance all took place, alongside acts on the main stage such as Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Gerry Cinnamon, Colonel Mustard, Sia, Paulo Nutini, Pet Shop Boys, Franz Ferdinand and Biffy Clyro.

ONE YOUNG WORLD ’20

ONE YOUNG WORLD INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SUMMIT

UK 2020

We designed the set and props across 3 venues in Central London. Speakers included Bob Geldof and Meghan Markle, amongst many other well known influencers. A skyline of London, huge flying projection sphere, moving staging and directional sculptures out in public areas were some of the items we designed for the environment. We also designed show content and props, such as giant flag pulls over the crowd and sparkling sets for the visiting company of West End show ‘Six’.
